Indian Thanjavur Painting Acclaimed Artist Ramanujam Passes Away

L. Ramanujam, 76, passed away in Srirangam. He was an acclaimed teacher and practitioner of Thanjavur painting. He has trained more than 2000 students in Thanjavur painting offering a certificate course.  He is a 2014 lifetime achievement award recipient from the Tamil Nadu government. He focused on imparting his skill to support home-based employment. Ramanujam learned painting and photography as an adolescent in 1962 and was self-employed. He undertook orders and conducted classes at his Sri Ranga Tanjore Art Gallery located on Amma Mandapam Road. He was active until a fortnight. Ramanujam took to popularity beyond his birthplace, through his Thanjavur paintings.
